Every fork full of food we consume is an opportunity to support a local economy. Shop local this weekend in Westchester at the South Salem Farmer’s Market or the new farm market in Chappaqua on Saturday, join in for a slow food and environment potluck on Saturday afternoon in North Salem. Stop in at Muscoot Farmer’s Market in Somers or the Pound Ridge Farmer’s Market on Sunday.
Cynthia Brennan, general manager of the new Chappaqua Farm Market and co-owner of TABLE Local Market in Bedford Hills, explains the mission behind the market: “Our main goal is to support sustainable agriculture and land use in Westchester County while promoting food health values in our community by providing fresh, local food.”
We agree with her wholeheartedly and think that holds true for all of the area farmer’s markets.
