My family used the Tassajara Bread Book when I was growing up to make yeasted breads, now I use it for the great unyeasted breads. One of the best breadbooks around!

If you've had my split pea soup at the farmer's market, this is where I got the basic recipe. I think it's the best recipe around! The addition of the wine at the end of cooking gives it a rich flavor. Perfect cold weather food, and I always add veggies I find at the market like parsnip or rutabaga.

Be the Media is a fantastic book, and it's author, David Mathison has come to Katonah several time to inspire area enviromental and social activists, creative artists and small business owners to be their own media! And he writes about the revolutionary potential of social media and citizen journalism in a way that gave me a whole new awe of the free world wide web.

I really like your blog – tho I don’t have enough time to peruse all of it all the time. It is chock-a-block with information – and very attractive too! Thanks for posting the info you do. I will be ordering the Viral Immunity book, which I became aware of – thru —YOU!
Posted by Dianne Rohr | May 21, 2010, 3:34 pmps.. I printed out your listing of local farmer’s markets. My son lives in Pacific Grove, CA and has al large farmer’s market to buy from right downtown every Monday – they block the streets off a couple of hrs for it – and one in Monterey every Tuesday – Santa Cruz, another day, etc. Wish we would block streets off for large wonderful open-air markets here!
