Where: Gossett Brothers Nursery, 1202 Rte 35, South Salem, NY
When: Saturdays, 9-1, Now Through May 16th.
If you are looking for locally raised, fresh eggs, meats, or veggies, come out to to South Salem Winter Farmer’s Market tomorrow and meet some regional farmers, bakers and Pat the beekeeper. The market is inside the heated greenhouse and will take place even if it’s snowing! Tom Gossett will be grilling sausages from New England Farms.
Pat Imbimbo is the owner of New England Farms. Originally from Brooklyn he learned farming in Florida, and later became an agriculture investigator in the Everglades. We’ll write abou
t that another time, but from what I gather, he once had to work on finding a stolen tractor-trailer load of bees and when he returned the bees to the beekeeper, he was hooked. He bought a farm in Granville, NY and now has about 3 million bees. He raises cattle, pigs, rabbits, chickens and ducks and sells meat, eggs, and raw honey. His farm is certified Naturally Grown. He hasn’t gone for organic certification yet due to time and expense, but uses no hormones, pesticides or antibiotics. We’ll talk more about bees and pesticides when I interview him next. Pat also manufactures and sells beekeeping supplies.
Besides New England Farms, the market will have breads from Bread Alone; quiches and soups from Pika’s; mushrooms and winter greenhouse-grown produce from Madura Farms; apples, pears and cider from Migorelli Farms; pastries from a local baker; and lavender products from a new lavender farmer.
Come on out! You might meet me there too! See you there!

Hi Heather
How are you? It’s Mimi Cassidy. I was wondering if you could tell me the name of the glutton free baker who was at the farmers market last week. I want to order a pie but lost her card. If you have her contact details I would be ever so grateful if you would pass them on to me. Hope you are well!!!
Mimi
